How to fill in a Spades score sheet

1. Before the first trick, write each team’s bid: the two partners’ bids added together, noting any nil.
2. After the 13th trick, write how many tricks each team took. Count a nil bidder’s tricks separately.
3. Made the bid? Score 10 per trick bid plus 1 per extra trick. Missed it? Subtract 10 per trick bid.
4. Add 100 for a nil made or subtract 100 for a nil missed.
5. Add the extra tricks to the bag column. When it reaches 10, subtract 100 and start again from what is left over.
6. Add the hand’s points to the running total. First team to 500 wins.

Example: Team A bids 4 + 3 = 7 and takes 8. Score 70 + 1 = 71 and 1 bag. Team B bids nil + 5 and takes 0 + 5: 100 + 50 = 150.

Questions

How do you keep score in Spades?

Write down each player's bid at the start of the hand and each player's tricks at the end. A team that makes its combined bid scores 10 per trick bid plus 1 per extra trick (bag); a team that misses loses 10 per trick bid. Nil is +100 or −100. Keep a running bag count: every 10 bags cost 100 points.

Is there a free Spades score keeper?

Yes, the score keeper on this page is free and works on any phone. Enter bids and tricks after each hand and it keeps the totals, bags and nil scores for both teams. It saves on your device, so you can close the page between hands.

Can I print a Spades score sheet?

Yes. Press “Print blank score sheet” for a one-page sheet with columns for both teams' bids, tricks, points, bags and running totals.
