Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
Play Spades ("we", "us") runs a free online Spades game. This policy explains what information we collect and how it is used. If you have questions, email hello@playspades.io.
Information we collect
- No accounts. You don't sign up or give us a name or email to play. The game runs entirely in your browser against computer players.
- Local storage. Your browser stores the game in progress, your settings (difficulty, points to play to, nil, speed) and your win statistics, so they are there when you come back. This never leaves your device.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type and request times for security and troubleshooting.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on the pages around the game, never in the middle of a hand. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising inGoogle Ads Settings, and learn more atHow Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, whether they start a game, which difficulty they pick, and how hands and games end. Google Analytics sets cookies and Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Your consent choices
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from Google with the options to accept, reject or manage cookies. Until you accept, advertising and analytics cookies are not used, and you will only see non-personalised ads.
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or Utah), you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising using theDo not sell or share my personal information link shown by Google's message on this site, or by turning off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
